First-timers to Houston, Galveston, Texas City Very Soon

Will be vacationing in these three cities from 2/16-2/23 for the first time and would gladly welcome all recommendations for sightseeing, and restaurants. We are staying at the Fairfield Inn in Texas City during the whole trip. We are budget-type travelers so nothing fancy in the way of eateries, please. Thanks for your help.

You are midway between Galveston %26amp; Clear Lake so check out sites in Galveston www.galveston.com

In Clear Lake you have Space Center Houston, Kemah Boardwalk and Armand Bayou Nature Center www.abnc.org

You might enjoy eating at Cracker Barrel or Cheddars on I45 for reasonable prices.

For budget concious - you can try Pomodoro%26#39;s on NASA Rd. 1 (Italian), Mamacita%26#39;s or Mom Alone on NASA Rd. 1 for Mexican, Joe%26#39;s Crab Shack - Gulf Frwy @ Fuqua or the Galveston location for Seafood, Boudreaux%26#39;s at Gulf Frwy %26amp; Fuqua - good Cajun food -- all of it - stuffed shrimp and shrimp etoufee is great. Olive Garden in Texas City. Fuddruckers on the Strand in Galveston - relatively inexpensive but somewhat pricey for burgers (but good burgers).

The Houston Space Center is a must see if you have kids. If you are interested in TX history, the San Jacinto Monument is very near. It is a great thing to visit. Next to the monument is the battleship Texas. It isn%26#39;t in great shape, but it is interesting to tour if you have never toured a battleship. Check out Kemah. It is fun with it%26#39;s boardwalk games and small carnival rides.. My kids loved it. They sometimes have bands that play in the courtyard. Kemah also has fun souvinear shoping. In Galveston Moody Gardens is a nice place to visit. They have 3 pyramids with different exhibits.....rainforest , aquarium......

Have fun!
