My 8 year old son and I will be staying at the Crowne Plaza Riverwalk in April. I am dismayed after reading it%26#39;s poor reviews (booked on Hotwire and can%26#39;t change). Any recommendations on how to make the best of it? We plan on riding the trolley (and visiting all the associated sights) for 2 days, but that leaves me a full day empty before we head to the Omni, Seaworld and Six Flags. We will have a car. Perhaps a day trip? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

You could take your son to the zoo. I%26#39;m not sure it would fill a whole day, but there are a few things in that area. There%26#39;s a little train that rides around the zoo and through a park. The Witte Museum is also nearby, and they have lots of fun, hands-on exhibits for kids. There are also a bunch of cute shops in that area that you could visit, if your son can handle it! (o:

Thank you TexasGirlTravels. The zoo isn%26#39;t going to work for us. We%26#39;re zoo%26#39;ed out! Any ideas for a trip to a ranch etc... He can ride.
Thanks again so much for your prompt reply!
Since you%26#39;ll have a car, I%26#39;ll suggest Natural Bridge Caverns:

My kids and I always had fun at the Poteet Strawberry Festival:

Depending on your son and his interests, it%26#39;s really just lovely to drive around the country roads and enjoy the bluebonnets.
I know it%26#39;s still animals, but it%26#39;s a little different. In New Braunfels, near the Natural Bridge Caverns, is a big wildlife ranch.

You drive through it and it%26#39;s supposed to be like a safari-the animals come up to your car.
I%26#39;m not sure about places to ride, but I know there are a few. If you Google ';horseback riding, San Antonio'; a bunch of stables will come up. Austin might also be a lot of fun-there%26#39;s a lot to see and do there.
Thank you Owl84. Natural Bridge Caverns it is! I think that he%26#39;ll love it, especially the Watchtower Challenge.
