Visiting Austin

My Husband and I will be visiting Austin (from Bermuda) for a week the end of March. We are both in our late 40%26#39;s - but love music, clubs, and the outdoors. Any ideas for some fun things to do and restaurants to eat were the crowd isn%26#39;t too young (or too old)??

Visiting Austin

6th Street is where a lot of the live music is but is usually a pretty young crowd. Stubbs BBQ has great live music and is just north of the 6th street area--that might be more what you are looking for. The warehouse district (4th street) also has some great music and restaurants and is the middle of the road crowd in age (usually late 20s-late 30s). If money isn%26#39;t too much of an issue, you should check out Sullivan%26#39;s (steakhouse) at 4th and Colorado. Plenty of other good restaurants--Rudy%26#39;s and Iron Works for barbecue, Guerros, Chuy%26#39;s and Trudy%26#39;s for Tex-Mex, Moonshine or ZTejas for something a little different. Some of my other posts have suggestions for restaurants as well.

For outdoors stuff, definitely go kayaking on Town Lake and walk the trails around the lake. Mount Bonnell is nice as is renting a boat/jet ski on Lake Travis. Try to go during a week day because Lake Travis gets very crowded and dangerous on the weekends. Enchanted Rock and Pedernales Falls are several miles (30-45) from Austin but are great spots for hiking, camping, etc.
