Visiting Austin

Coming from Scotland for a two week Holiday (vacation) last two weeks in May. Any advice and things to do while we are there.

Would I stand out too much if I wore my Kilt???????

Visiting Austin

There is so much to do, it all depends on what you like. Are you outdoorsy, the partying type?

If you have access to a car, take a Hill Country tour to the wineries %26amp; BBQ places in Llano or Lockhart (skip the Salt Lick- too expensive %26amp; overrated) %26amp; also to see the wildflowers, also various festivals around the area.

Partying on 6th %26amp; 4th Streets is always fun (younger %26amp; older crowds respectively). Lots of live music all over town (depending on what type of music you like). Be sure to pick up a free copy of the Austin Chronicle for tips on the goings-on around town (listings for bands, theatre, special events, etc)- you can find them at lots of locations on Thursdays- and they also have a great website for ahead of time research.

Lots of parks available around town %26amp; natural springs (such as Barton Springs)- pretty cold water though. Also, kayaking or canooing on townlake is fun. Again, if you can get a car, tubing on the Guadalupe or Comal Rivers on the weekends is great crazy fun.

Make sure to get plenty of Barbeque %26amp; Tex-Mex while you are here.

Definitely wear the kilt- especially on 6th St. You%26#39;ll get more attention.

Have fun %26amp; enjoy!!!
