Weather in March??

Planning a trip to the Corpus Christi area in mid-March. How is the weather at that time of the year? Will it be warm enough for kids to splash around at the beach? Also, is the construction downtown still going on? What would be the top 5 or 6 things to see or do in the CC area if you only have 4 days to spend there? Thanks......

Weather in March??

March fluctuates in TX. Sometimes it may still be fairly cool, sometimes it%26#39;s a very hot day here and there. But if you%26#39;re from the midwest, well, March will probably feel fantastic to you!

Whatever you do, DON%26#39;T stay at Holiday Inn Emerald Beach in Corpus! My in-laws (also from midwest) stayed here in December and the hotel was just awful (you can see for yourself from the tripadvisor.com reviews on this hotel-- which it might have been good if they checked that out first!)

Weather in March??

kac2 is correct. The weather in March is hit or miss. We get a lot of visitors during spring break, and some get great weather while some get a week of rain.

The construction is still going on in downtown, but it is in a different area than it was last year.

I also agree with kac2 about Holiday Inn Emerald Beach. We stayed there once. The room was mediocre at best, and the food in the restaurant was horrible.

Thanks for the weather info. Yes, coming from the midwest and watching it snow today with ice still on the ground from the last storm 2 weeks ago, I think 70 degrees would be great!!

Also, thanks for the tip on Emerald Beach....that was in the running for a place to stay so will avoid it now. What about the Holiday Inn Sunspree on North Padre or Holiday Express in Aransas?

What other suggestions would you have for hotel/motel.condo?

Thanks for both replies.........

I haven%26#39;t stayed at SunSpree, but my sister-in-law stays there every summer. She loves it. According to the reviews here, some agree with her, and some hate it. It%26#39;s right on the beach. Just walk out the door and there you are.

The Holiday Inn Express in Port A is not on the beach, but it%26#39;s not far from it. Actually, nothing in Port A is too far from the beach. Anyway...I haven%26#39;t stayed at the Express, but it%26#39;s fairly new and looks nice from the outside. I think it would be a good choice. Also, if given the choice, I%26#39;d rather stay in Port A than Corpus. However, the place will be swarming with spring breakers in March. The beaches, streets, and restaurants will be much more crowded than at other times of the year.

Our ';touristy'; spots are the USS Lexington (lots of walking/climbing wear comfortable shoes) and the TX state aquarium. The kids will probably really like the aquarium. The wildlife refuge in Aransas Pass is suppose to be pretty awesome but I%26#39;ve never been there. Go to the beach, National Seashore or Mustang Island (family beaches). They have horseback riding on the beach if you%26#39;re into that. It%26#39;s pretty cool to ride across the ferry (It%26#39;s free) sometimes you%26#39;ll see porpoises...There is a neat little water park in Aransas Pass, the Aquatic Center and its pretty cheap (under 10 bucks). Nice little park right there to picnic. Here is a link to attractions and stuff. http://www.aransaspass.org/

Hope that helps.
