I%26#39;m taking my 11 year old son and my 60+ year old parents in March to SA over my son%26#39;s spring break. We plan to visit Sea World, River Walk, Alamo and are looking for other must sees and advice.
Thanks,
trip in March
Children%26#39;s Museum - great for the younger kiddos, within walking distance from most downtown hotels. http://www.sakids.org/
The newly rennovated Aztec (On the RiverWalk at the corner of E. Commerce and N. St. Mary’s Streets) theater puts on a free show with special effects show in its lobby - www.aztecontheriver.com
The Buckhorn Museum is across the street from the Children%26#39;s Museum. Lots and lots of stuffed animals (the real kind). www.buckhornmuseum.com
The zoo is great, one of the best in the country, www.sazoo-aq.org It will require a bus, cab or short car trip. Once you%26#39;re there, you can also take a miniture train to the Witte Museum. www.wittemuseum.org Among other things it has a fun science treehouse.
Guinness World Records Museum, Ripley%26#39;s Haunted Adventure, and Davy Crockett%26#39;s Tall Tales Ride - These are WAY touristy, very generic, and too expensive for my mind. But the Davy Crockett could be fun for the little ones. www.haunted-guinness-crockett.com
Check out Our Kids Magazine It%26#39;s a free publication that you can pick up a lots of places or at www.ourkidssanantonio.com

One of the coolest (literally and figuratively) ways to escape the heat of south Texas is to head for one of the nearby Caves. Incredible formations with imaginative names like the Jelly Fish, fired eggs, the Bear Pit, or Sherwood Forest spark your own imagination a certainly provide a break from the norm.
Just north of SA on I-35 you%26#39;ll find Natural Bridge Caverns http://www.naturalbridgecaverns.com/ In addition to being one of the biggest caves in Texas, this is a great family sport with well developed trails and lots of activities including a more physical tour that includes repelling. There%26#39;s panning for gem stones and a drive-through wildlife park.
In Boerne you%26#39;ll find The Cave Without a Name. This is a more remote and less touristy alternative. The guides are very knowledgeable and obviously passionate about educating folks. You%26#39;re apt to get a more personal tour here, on many occasions we%26#39;ve been the only folks on the tour.
Just South of Boerne is Cascade Caverns http://www.cascadecaverns.com/ with an underground waterfall. The facilities here are a little worn
I%26#39;m not sure what your 11-y.o. boy likes... mine is happy with lots of batteries for his Game Boy. ;-)
While you%26#39;re at the Riverwalk, the IMAX usually has something interesting to see (all ages enjoy)

Maybe take in a Spurs game?
And honestly, (is everyone tired of me beating this drum? LOL) if you have a car, I think a trip out to Natural Bridge Caverns would definitely be a hit.

You couldn%26#39;t have picked a nicer city to visit. Enjoy your trip!
Sorry Octoboy!! I didn%26#39;t mean to repeat what you said! :-) Didn%26#39;t see your post.
But I second your motions! ;-)
I hope your not going the week of the 18th.
The NCAA tournament is in town and the place will be a zoo.
For your parents, be sure to drive a little ways outside of San Antonio travelling north to the Hill Country to view the unique bluebonnets all along the highways that bloom only in March. They are very unique and beautiful. A site for all of you to enjoy would be the elevator ride up the Hemisphere Tower or Tower of Americas downtown, near the Alamo. There is a great revolving restaurant at the top also. Don%26#39;t miss seeing the San Fernando Cathedral downtown...it%26#39;s the oldest active cathedral in the US, established in 1731. Your parents would surely appreciate it%26#39;s beauty. My 12 year old%26#39;s favorite thing in SA is undoubtedly....the SA Zoo. It%26#39;s the best zoo I%26#39;ve ever visited. Sea World will amaze your whole family...but it can be very expensive, tho usually well worth it. March is the best weather month of the entire year. Not hot, not cold....usually 75 degrees high on the average. Don%26#39;t miss riding on a Riverboat down the San Antonio River (Riverwalk) for sure. All ages will enjoy that. San Antonio is full of wonderful sites for any age. Be prepared to gain about 10 lbs....most delicious food in the world, quality and quantity! Hope you enjoy our beautiful city and it%26#39;s unique culture and history.
