We%26#39;re planning on being in Houston last week of April. Do we need to buy tickets in advance for the French Impressiontsts, or do you think we could normally buy them the same day or the day before?
We%26#39;re also looking for a reasonably priced hotel where we can safely walk to and back from good restaurants.

Pretty much you don%26#39;t need to buy tickets in advance for the French Impressionists or for any of the exhibitions at the MFA, or I have never had to. Friends and I have been able to walk in and bought tickets for the exhibit on site. Your best bet is to definitely go on a weekday, esp on a Thursday. As for a place to stay, Galleria area is preferred with shopping and a bunch of restaurants. For more, check out http://www.uptown-houston.com/.
