What are some of the most romantic things to do/places to eat/etc in the Austin area, or even within an hour or so out of Austin?
If you could treat your significant other to a romantic, special day, what would you do?
No dressy/expensive restaurants please.
romantic things to do and places to eat
Hmm, I%26#39;ve been married about 20 years and have a kid, so I%26#39;m a little short on romantic ideas. But, if I had to choose something at this moment, with this gorgeous weather, I%26#39;d have to say I%26#39;d take my hubby down memory lane with breakfast at Jim%26#39;s and a trip to Enchanted Rock.
Ahh, good times. ;-)

Mount Bonnell. A walk down memory lane at some of your favorite Austin places. For me that would entail a walk through campus, a springtime or summer outing on Lake Travis with dinner at Johnny Fin%26#39;s, and perhaps a walk through Zilker park. The Botanical Gardens at Zilker are a good bet in Spring.

you could canoe or kayak together on Town Lake.
the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is pretty cool too.
Curra%26#39;s restaurant (interior mexican) or Nueva Onda (great tacos and migas) after. actually the Argentine restaurant off of Oltorf is great too!
I would do the kayak on Town Lake, stroll down the paths of Zilker park and go to the Oasis (self-proclaimed Sunset Capital of the World--truly fantastic views of the sunset over the lake). The Oasis is a casual place.
By the way, the food at the Oasis is not great--that place is absolutely made by the view and is worth it despite the marginal food.
Mount Bonnell is also a good choice for romance.
To me, the Oasis is overrated. If you want a romantic dinner (and budget is not an issue), check out The Mansion at Judge%26#39;s Hill - http://www.mansionatjudgeshill.com/

Hill Country winery tours are terrific, cheap, and very romantic. We always take a picnic lunch %26amp; sit under the trees to wait out the buzz from the wine. If you take the Hwy 290 route- there are about 3 within easy distance of one another.
Romeo%26#39;s on Barton Springs Road is fairly romantic (the food is decent) %26amp; Eastside Cafe is also nice (very good food).
Also, a visit to the Botannical Gardens or Umlauf Sculpture Gardens is cheap or free %26amp; very nice.
