Bringing kids and grandkids for 5 days in June. Leaning towards staying at BahiA Mar condos. Good-bad?
Also how long is drive from San Antonio. Can fly there for half the price of BRO, CRP

San Antonio is about 5 hours drive to South Padre Island, Austin 6 hours and Houston about 6.5 hours. You may want to check airfare to all these cities for better fares/options.
Also, if you haven%26#39;t already, check southwestairlines.com for some usually good fares.
Can%26#39;t help with the condo, have never been there. Welcome to Texas!

My sister-in-law and her family stayed at the Bahia Mar a couple of summers ago and was really disappointed. Needs a lot of updating and they said it was not clean. Individually owned condos are always iffy because it just depends on that particular owner. The one next door might have been great, but it%26#39;s a crap-shoot.
bahia mar is nice on the north end.
Frankly, I would look into another property. Bahia Mar was one of the first condos built down there, and a lot of the units are really showing some wear. If you do decide to stay there, I would insist with the front desk, that they put you in a unit that has been recently updated. But I would read back on earlier posts in this forum and get some recommedations on other places to stay.
I don%26#39;t know what price range you are interested in, but there are many newer complexes that are much nicer than the Bahia Mar. I would check with some of the condo management companies on the island. The Bahia Mar was one of the first complexes built and most of the condos have no view. There is a large variety available, bayside, beachside, beachfront. Good Luck!
I have never stayed at the condos you mentioned. I wouldnt let the age of the bldg concern me though. We stayed at one of the new large condo complexes and I was disapointed. It was more money and difficult to get around in. Doing laundry was a hassle and getting a soft drink was a long walk. It also was confusing to my kids when they went outside it was huge and everything looked just alike. They had a problem finding their way back too our condo. As for my family we prefer the smaller condo units and its less money then newer bigger ones. Across the causeway is Sea Life Rescue your grandkids might really enjoy visiting there they have a great dolphin film and lots of sea life for them to learn about. Its a non profit org. Im sure no matter which condo you stay in your grandkids will have a blast on SPI.
