Texas Whirldwind Tour

Coming in to dallas from the UK end of may and leaving to go back from Houston 8 days later. looking at dallas-ft worth-austin-houston as an itinery, enjoy bars and a good time...be grateful for any advice on either a better itinery or where to go..

Texas Whirldwind Tour

Hey UK,

Bars depend on age bracket more than anything. Weather nice in May, not hot yet. In Dallas, for a good drink and people-watching, try Adair%26#39;s Saloon on Commerce St. near downtown, just in Deep Ellum. Great old country jukebox %26amp; bands. Sonny Bryan%26#39;s for BBQ. S%26amp;D Oyster Bar off McKinney Ave. for New Orleans seafood. In Ft.Worth, check out The Stockyards %26amp; also Sundance Square in downtown for all the nightlife and restaurants you can stand. Joe T. Garcia%26#39;s for margaritas and Tex-Mex is a Ft.Worth institution. I live near Dallas but both Ft.Worth %26amp; Austin are more fun to me than Dallas. In Austin you%26#39;d probably want to hit the Wharehouse Districe off 5th St. and also the infamous 6th St. Any kind of club you can imagine. Try Chuy%26#39;s (on Barton Springs) for real good Tex-Mex and velvet-Elvis decor. It%26#39;s a legend down there. Have a great trip!

in dallas: www.leeharveys.com for a great outdoor venue and a fun, unique atmosphere. the loon is a great dive bar with a stiff drink. the balcony club in lakewood is great. for clubs, try the ghost bar at the W hotel. as far as food, try louie%26#39;s pizza on henderson avenue, mi cocina for some tex-mex (get a mambo taxi). for a nice steak, try nick and sam%26#39;s or bob%26#39;s steak and chop house.

fort worth: joe t garcia%26#39;s for food and great margaritas, then head downtown and try some of the bars down there. embargo is a cool bar on 8th street. the oui on bluebonnet circle is a great dive bar. you also might want to go to a texas ranger%26#39;s baseball game, the ballpark is in arlington, located directly between dallas and fort worth.

austin: for food: trudy%26#39;s tex-mex or for a nice meal, jeffrey%26#39;s can%26#39;t be beat. you definitely want to see 6th street, but the bars on 4th and 5th are better (all of these are downtown). also might want to head out to chuy%26#39;s on town lake.

houston...no clue. i think i%26#39;ve heard that the area around rice village is fun.

Thanks for the info, will definately check these out, looks like we%26#39;ll be in Austin when The Biker Rally is on, (31st May), what%26#39;s it like, any good !

Biker rally is super cool, but really crowded. It%26#39;s just fun to see that many folks on motorcycles having a great time. Austin seems to have frequent rallies, not sure why.

The only thing I didn%26#39;t see here was Houston stuff. All the Dallas and Austin stuff look great. In Houston ,check out downtown and the Montrose area.
