I%26#39;m going to a conference in Houston and thinking of the family coming along for a little outing. I%26#39;m going to ned to be in downtown but we are thinking of staying near the Kemeh boardwalk for the kids. How long would it take to get from there to downtown in the morning rush hour?

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but to get to downtown from Kemah, you%26#39;d have to take I-45 North, and in AM rush hour, it%26#39;s murder. On a good day, you%26#39;d be looking at probably an hour or so. To get back in the evenings, you%26#39;d need the same amount of time, if not a bit more. That%26#39;s a well-traveled area during the week (and even on weekends, because of Kemah%26#39;s attractions) so you%26#39;d be spending quite a bit of time in the car. :(

Depends on the time of day you are going. If I am going at posted speeds - I can make the drive in about 45 minutes. The biggest hold up is not the freeway but the traffic lights between the freeway and the boardwalk. You could stay at a hotel closer in Clear Lake and still have easy accessibility to the boardwalk and to downtown.
