San Antonio to Austin

Hi all

Travelling to your part of the world on the 29th March 2007, staying at the Drury Inn and Suites at the Riverwalk for five nights and then spending two nights at the Hampton Inn and Suites in downtown Austin.

Any place to visit on the journey between San Antonio and Austin?

Kind regards

Steve LL

San Antonio to Austin

Me and my husband went to a huge shopping mall between San Antonio and Austin. ';Prime outlet';

I donno if you like shopping, but it was HUGE! And I enjoyed a lot.

In Austin, I recommend ';the Boiling Pot'; . This is a spicy cajan crawfish place.

It was a completely new kind of food for me, but tastes really good! I haven%26#39;t tried any other crawfish place, but my sister in law who is living in Austin took me there, so I thought this must be popular to the local people too...

San Antonio to Austin

Several - Up I-35 alone there is more that a day’s worth of activities.

One of the coolest (literally and figuratively) ways to escape the heat of south Texas is to head for one of the nearby Caves. Incredible formations with imaginative names like the Jelly Fish, fired eggs, the Bear Pit, or Sherwood Forest spark your own imagination a certainly provide a break from the norm.

Just north of SA on I-35 you%26#39;ll find Natural Bridge Caverns http://www.naturalbridgecaverns.com/ In addition to being one of the biggest caves in Texas, this is a great family sport with well developed trails and lots of activities including a more physical tour that includes repelling. There%26#39;s panning for gem stones and a drive-through wildlife park.

A little farther North there’s Gruene Start with a 2 or 3-hour toobing trip down the Guadalupe River Try some authentic TX bar-b-que, do some quick shopping or wine tasting, and make sure to visit Gruene Hall, http://www.gruenehall.com/ Texas’ oldest dance hall. And the Grist Mill Restaurant. There are also several Bed and Breakfasts

New Braunfels http://www.newbraunfels.com/ is just a few miles from Gruene. It too has as plenty of shopping. But water is the name of the game - toobing on the Comal or Guadalupe Rivers: Texas Tubes http://www.texastubes.com/ Rockin R River Outfitters http://www.rockinr.com/ or perhaps the best waterpark in the United States Schlitterbahn, http://www.schlitterbahn.com/

On up the road, south of San Marcos is Texas Ski Ranch http://www.texasskiranch.com/ In addition to cable ski runs, they have a skatepark, and a motocross course. Lots to do.

A little closer to San Marcos are two huge outlet shopping centers. Lots to shop.

On up the road in Buda is Cabella’s – more shopping.

Thanks guys - yet again I%26#39;m indebted to you.

Kind regards

Steve LL
