Quiet Hotel in San Antonio, but with walking distance.

Please can someone recommend a quiet hotel in San Antonio within walking distance to Riverwalk. We are staying 3 nights -2 adults - Price about $200 per room per night maximum in April 2007.

When in April are you planning your visit? If it%26#39;s durrring Fiesta, April 20-29,nowhere downtown will be quiet. Outside of that window things should be great at any of the hotels.

Your budget should give you the choice of many hotels. You can usually get a 4-star hotel on Hotwire for about $125 if you%26#39;re willing to gamble on the exact hotel.

Try the Hawthorn Suites Riverwalk. A quiet location and a 20 minutes walk along the Riverwalk to down town. Or go by boat (stops at the Hawthorn). Try a riverview room with a large balcony.

Check out the Marriott Plaza San Antonio....

We were just in San Antonio and looked at a lot of the Bed and Breakfasts on Madison Street and a few streets close to Madison. There are a total of about 10 B%26amp;B in old mansions. They are in residential neighborhoods therefore do not have traffic noises.

Those B%26amp;B are close the the Guenther House Restaurant (often recommended by those in the know, see Guenther website), the river walk and are also served by the public transportation trolleys. Rosario Mexican Food is also in the neighborhood. It was recently in the Texas Monthly as a place to get one of the best tacos in Texas.

We also saw the Holiday Inn Express ($169 plus 16.75% tax) and the Amerisuites ($134 plus tax) both on Navarro Street. The Marriott was also in the neighborhood. All of the above are within easy walking distance of each other but the hotels were on heavily traveled streets.

All of the above are also close to Amtrak Train station but not within walking distance (about $5 by taxi.)
