Girls Trip to Corpus Christi

We are just starting to plan a girls trip to Corpus Christi at the end of July and don%26#39;t know much about the area. We are interested in the beach/spa/shopping during the day %26amp; walking/short cab to nightlife (bars %26amp; clubs). There will be 4-8 of us (late 20%26#39;s/early 30%26#39;s) either in 2 hotels rooms or any type of beach condo/house.

Any suggestions? What about South Padre Island? Any advice is appreciated!

Corpus has a bit of a nightlife scene Downtown, but not much. Also, it isn%26#39;t on the beach, but instead on a bay. The beach is about 25 miles away.

South Padre would probably be more up your alley. You can also look into Port Aransas.

They are trying to revamp the downtown area and currently, that is the only ';night life'; scene. The problem is that part of town is run-down, the buildings are falling apart....and they sit there...empty. That area is full of transients....there has been shootings and gang activity around there...wouldn%26#39;t want to walk around there at night! There are a few shops, but nothing worth coming here on a trip for shopping. Me %26amp; my girlfriends go to San Marcos to shop... there is about 2 days worth of shopping the outlet malls all designer stores, every label you can imagine at super-cheap prices.

We have 2 malls here (in Corpus), one of which has more space available for lease than stores. And it is nothing extraordinary. We don%26#39;t have any good spas here either, I%26#39;ve found them all very disappointing.

Conclusion: Go to South Padre.

Another way we like to find neat ';secret'; places to stay is http://www.vrbo.com so we can all stay in a house or condo together.

You could even take a day and drive to Progresso, Mexico (about an hour drive) Park on the U.S. side, walk across and shop to your heart%26#39;s content for bargains while sipping margaritas the whole time! Its a blast!
