Do I need a car

To visit any mission besides the Alamo you%26#39;ll need transportation. There are bus tours that allow you to ';hop off'; and rejoin a later tour. Getting to the Spurs game should be easy too. So you probably don%26#39;t.

That said, I always like having a car. Pros: Freedom to come and go (public transportation usually stops or is greatly reduced around 10 or 11 pm.) Cheap, usually around 20 bucks a day (transportation to and from the airport is usually more than that.) Allows you to get to less touristy spots. Cons: Parking at a downtown hotel is usually expensive, and driving in an unfamiliar city can be stressful.

Here is a wild option for you that few people know about. Near downtown, about the corner of Alamo and Durango streets is a small market called the Delivery Market. Depending on where you%26#39;re staying downtown, it%26#39;s probably within walking distance. They rent little Honda scooters. All they require is a valid drivers license, and they are $15 an hour or $40 for the entire day. The wife and I live in the neighborhood (King William Historic District) and gave it a try. It was an absolute blast and we%26#39;re in our late 40%26#39;s. San Antonio has done a great job of establishing a mission %26#39;trail'; that takes you on a loop of all the missions. The top out at about 35mph. We packed a lunch and had a great time. They only have about 4 or 5 single scooters and looks like a couple of larger Vespas%26#39; if you want to ride together with someone, so I%26#39;d call ahead to reserve.

As far as the Spurs game goes, use the trolley system or the Via Bus.
