We are just starting to plan a girls trip to South Padre/Corpus Christi at the end of July and don%26#39;t know much about the area. We are interested in the beach/spa/shopping during the day %26amp; walking/short cab to nightlife (bars %26amp; clubs). There will be 4-8 of us (late 20%26#39;s/early 30%26#39;s) either in 2 hotels rooms or any type of beach condo/house.
Suggestions? Any advice is appreciated!
Girls Trip to South Padre or Corpus Christi
Are you planning on going to South Padre Island (at the tip of Texas, close to Brownsville) or Corpus Christi? It is confusing b/c the Padre Island National Seashore is close to Corpus, but South Padre (where the Spring Breakers go) is much further South ...about 3 hours driving. Consult a Texas map to get a feel for what you might want. I prefer the beach at South Padre, but others may disagree...probably more social scene at Corpus.
Girls Trip to South Padre or Corpus Christi
We are thinking South Padre Island
I love a girl trip! There are a couple of massage places on the island. I have never been, so I can%26#39;t comment on them. The Peninsula resort does have spa services (at least they did), and is one of the newest places on the island. It is a lovely place, but somewhat on the pricey side. You would just need to call and see what kind of rates are available. Please be aware that SPI doesn%26#39;t have any of the glitz of the Florida beach towns. It is very laid back and low key. Shopping consists mainly of souvenir shops. The beach is great and plenty of it. Night life for me down there is usually drinks in the condo, so someone younger than me will have to weigh in on the bar/club scene. I think your best bet would be a condo, you would have more room to spread out (and there are lots of them). Motels range from the seedy to so-so; the La Copa seems to get the best reviews.
Okay here is what confuses people. Corpus Christi has South Padre Island Drive. It is the name of a Highway. Well, It takes you to North Padre Island which is Corpus Christi, not SOUTH PADRE Island. To get there you will be going down near Brownsville.
